Panchayat Raj Movement (PRM) was established in the year 1989 by a team of youth social activists who has experience in the development sector for a decade. It came into existence from October 20, 1989. It has been registered under the Indian Trusts Act of 1882 in Pudukottai. It has 7 members in the board of trustees, of them, 5 women and 2 men are members. It started its works in Pudukottai, Kunnandarkoil blocks of Pudukottai district. It started with awareness generation, mobilization of grassroots into groups, creation of volunteers, networking interventions. Later it takes sustainable agriculture, environment promotion and women empowerment projects in its target villages.

PRM’s Vision

 RM envisions a society in which every human being live in peace, respect, and harmony with each other, irrespective of their caste, creed, sex, religion or region, that facilitates the sustained development of the grassroots and ensures natural resources conservation for the judicial consumption of the grassroots.

Facilitating the mobilization of the grassroots, women, children, youth, dalits, marginal farmers, unorganized workers, into non-formal systems, that ensures their fullest participation and involvement in the interventions for their empowerment Paving the way for the grassroots to engage in natural resources conservation, sustainable agriculture and organic farm methods and practices, innovative development interventions, build their capacities, skills, knowledge, and work in solidarity with other grassroots at various levels.
